What is the OZEV Grant?
The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) provides grants to help with the cost of installing electric vehicle charge points. The Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) offers up to £350 off the cost of installing a home charger.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the OZEV grant, you must:
- Own or lease an eligible electric vehicle (pure electric or plug-in hybrid)
- Have dedicated off-street parking (driveway, garage, or private parking space)
- Use an OZEV-approved installer and charger
- Not have previously claimed a grant at this property
Changes in 2024
Important: The grant is now only available to:
- Homeowners living in flats
- People in rental accommodation (with landlord permission)
- Landlords installing chargers for tenants
Homeowners with houses who have their own off-street parking are no longer eligible for the domestic grant.
How to Apply
You don't apply directly for the grant. Instead, your OZEV-approved installer will apply on your behalf and deduct the grant amount from your invoice. Make sure to:
- Choose an OZEV-approved installer
- Select an OZEV-approved charger
- Provide proof of EV ownership/lease
- Sign the grant declaration form
