EV chargers are generally low-maintenance devices, but some basic care will ensure reliable operation and extend their lifespan. Most quality chargers are designed to last 10+ years with minimal attention.

Regular Maintenance Tasks

Monthly

• Wipe down the unit with a damp cloth
• Check the cable for damage (cuts, fraying, kinks)
• Ensure the connector is clean and dry
• Test the charger is working correctly

Quarterly

• Check mounting is secure
• Inspect for water ingress (especially after heavy rain)
• Clean connector contacts if dirty
• Update firmware via app (if applicable)

Annually

• Visual inspection of all cables and connections
• Check RCD/RCBO trips correctly (test button)
